Description: This last webinar of the quarter focused on the importance of recognizing and addressing trauma in primary care, but specifically in integration and collaboration between primary care and behavioral health providers. Dr. Fleg and Ms. Nanez utilized the six guiding principles and the four R’s of trauma-informed care to emphasize the need for safety, trustworthiness, and transparency, as well as the importance of incorporating peer support, collaboration, and mutuality in their work. They also discussed the lasting impact of historical trauma (past and recent) on indigenous populations and the significance of cultural safety in healing-centered care. Finally, presenters highlighted the importance of prioritizing healing-centered engagement (HCE) in integrated care, including the five C’s (compassion, connection, community, curiosity, and ceremony). With these practices, providers will be able to provide a deeper level of healing for our communities.
